Jonah 4:2 He prayed to the Lord, “Isn't this what I said, Lord when I was still at home? That is what I tried to forestall be fleeing to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity.” God has so much compassion on unbelievers. He gave the Ninevites a second chance. Jonah did after all, preach Gods word, but he did not expect Nineva to repent and turn from their wicked ways. He expected God to destroy them. He waited and waited, and God did not destroy the city. It did not happen the way he thought it would. But it happened exactly how God wanted it to happen. How many times in our own lives do we seem to think things will happen this way or that way. But in the end, we were completely wrong, and God did it His own way. Why does that surprise us? Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” I think we will be surprised at who comes to know Jesus in these last days. We can't look at their outward appearance, but like God we must look at their heart. Obviously, we don't want the wicked to prosper and we want Gods angles to separate the true from false believers (Wheat from the Chaff). But it's all in Gods timing and Gods compassion just like He had on Nineva. We need that same compassion today. "Love God Love People"
